Our Students and Faculty

Randolph College’s total enrollment is 816, with 95% being full-time students.

Fifty-seven percent are women and 43% are men, mirroring the national average. Randolph’s enrollment includes 119 graduate students, a number that includes master’s degree programs in education and teaching and coaching and sport leadership as well as low-residency MFA students in creative writing and theatre.

Randolph’s students come from 34 states and 19 countries and about 75% are Virginia residents. The student body includes 3% international students and 42% domestic non-white students. (If international students are included, 42% are students of color.)

Members of Randolph’s first-year class are high achievers, with GPAs averaging about 3.36.  Thirty-seven percent of Randolph students were in the top 25% of their high school classes, and 71% were in the top 50%.

A remarkable 95% of Randolph’s full-time faculty members hold the highest possible degree in their fields. Randolph offers a rigorous liberal arts curriculum in small classes taught by engaged, caring professors–never graduate students. The average class size is 13, and the student:faculty ratio is 8:1.

  • Eighteen buildings, including stately Main Hall, recognized by the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Nine men’s sports teams and eleven women’s sports teams.
  • Spacious, mixed-year residence halls as well as apartment-style living, all right near the center of campus.
  • About 29 student organizations.

Our Town

Lynchburg, Virginia, is many things at once:

  • A mid-sized city with a small-town feel.
  • Part of a larger metropolitan area, with a population of over 254,000 and a revitalized downtown.
  • A buzzing college town home to five colleges and more than 20,000 students.
  • A recreational hub, with an extensive biking and hiking trail system running throughout the city, the Blue Ridge Parkway just minutes away, and the James River flowing through the heart of town.
  • An entertainment center, with theater and live music venues, shopping, restaurants, and coffee shops galore.
  • An “ex-urb” to even larger metropolitan centers, being a short drive to Washington D.C., Virginia Beach, Raleigh-Durham, and Richmond.
